As you already probably know, I’ve landed in Tokyo on first of September, at Haneda Airport, and so it makes nearly one week that I’m in Japan. So, I will resume you a bit this first few days =)
Flying with Air China was pretty good: nice meal on lunch, nice drinks, new movies (Avengers 2 /1, Fast and Furious 7…) and new music. But sleeping in the plane was kind of impossible^^ Then, at the arrival, I figure it out that they lost one of my luggage, which have been by mistake took off of the plane at Beijing during our stop. But they find it quite quickly and send it directly to my dorm =) and by the way, NEVER EVER TRY a chinese breakfast in a plane! It’s just awful: sort of jelly egg which taste like plastic, rice mixed with milk and jelly, et some stuff to put inside! It is pretty much indefinable, but really not good^^
After one night at the hotel in Ikebukuro, which was quite nice by the way, we have head up to our dormitory, which is situated in Yokohama, Tachibanadai! We are two student from the program, me and one Dutch guy , so it’s quite nice. As you can see on the picture, it’s a tatami room, 10m², not much furniture, but it’s quite enough! And moreover, people from the dorm are really welcoming and nice, they explained us everything, and we have meals every night at the dorm, with a japanese cooker making meals =) It really changed from european food, especially japanese breakfast: eating fish and rice with soup at breakfast is kinda strange.
The first days were quite exhausting actually, because we have had lot of documents to do: It was like rushing in all places to do documents, which were of course in Japanese. So, the immersion was pretty fast, trying to speak two or three words of japanese in order to get understood. Moreover, the weather is kind of oppressing, with high temperature and lot of humidity so, at the end of each day, we were like completely dead. But papers are finally done x)
Language class will begin next Monday, which is quite close right now, and I’m a bit anxious because I think the challenge will be quite high^^ but I’m really looking for those classes to finally be able to understand more than simple sentences!
In all case, the experience is beginning, and I will tell you more about it in few weeks. Finally, this was an article about my journey, but I will also try to make some general articles about Japan!
